Archived – Student-Alumni Informational Discussions (SAID)

Through SAID, alumni host a small group of students over Zoom or in person for lively conversations about professional practice, residency, work-life balance and whatever else is on students’ minds. Discussions are offered October through December.  Alumni registration is now open, and student registration will open mid-September!

"The students are always engaged and grateful for the candid conversation and the connection we make. I learn as much from them… as they learn from me."

— Host Jane Lester, M.D., ’86, Res. ’90

How it Works

  • Alumni will submit a registration form, indicating a date, time, and location (within the WWAMI region or virtual), along with a brief bio and what topics they can speak to. Students will browse and select sessions to attend, based on the areas of practice or topics that align with their interests. Alumni are welcome to co-host a session with another alum, which can be indicated on the registration form. If you are unsure of a date at the time you register, you can put “TBD” and we’ll follow up with you!
  • Students will be able to browse and register for sessions through our online registration site, and are welcome to register for more than one session based on interest. Each SAID session will have limited capacity so it’s important to only sign up for sessions you can attend. Be sure to block the time on your calendar after signing up!
  • Prior to each session, alumni and students will receive an email introduction with the session logistics and calendar reminder (including a Zoom link, for virtual events).
