Student-
Alumni Informational Discussions (SAID)
Through SAID, alumni host a small group of students in person or over Zoom for lively conversations about professional practice, residency, work-life balance and whatever else is on students’ minds. Discussions are offered October through December, and are open to all current UWSOM MD students.
The students are always engaged and grateful for the candid conversation and the connection we make. I learn as much from them as they learn from me.
— Host Jane Lester, M.D., ’86, Res. ’90
How It Works
- Alumni select a location (in person within the WWAMI region or virtual), date and time for the gathering and complete the registration form. Share a little about yourself, your practice and your interests outside of medicine; this will help students when they select which alumni they want to meet. You’re welcome to co-host an event with another alum! Just let us know in the registration form.
- Students browse available sessions and register online for the ones you’re interested in. Students can register for just one or multiple discussions.
- Before a SAID session, alumni hosts will receive an introduction to their student attendees, along with session details (location/Zoom link) and some suggested discussion prompts.
